Neil has a wealth of knowledge within the hospitality industry and has over 24 years experience encompassing all levels of restaurant and kitchen management. A native of the United Kingdom Neil’s formal training was initially in London at the Dorchester Hotel with renowned Michelin star chef – Anton Mossiman.
After successfully completing the City and Guilds examinations Neil traveled extensively throughout India and Asia following his passion for and experiencing the exotic and unusual cuisines of these diverse countries.
A move to New Zealand from Perth in 1989 saw Neil working as a fine dining chef in Auckland before moving to Nelson and opening his own restaurant “Ciao”.
Ciao quickly became a Nelson icon earning numerous awards and accolades in the seven years Neil owned it. Returning to Auckland in 2000, Neil has been instrumental in setting up and working in further three restaurants, the most recent of these being “The Wharf” at Northcote Point.
A love of his craft and his willingness and enjoyment of sharing his considerable knowledge has been catalyst for Neil’s decision to join the great team of professionals at NSIA.
