NSIA Students Bring Home Culinary Medals with 14 Golds

It was another fantastic achievement for NSIA -- The Professional Hospitality Academy at the New Zealand Culinary Fare during the days of 23rd, 24th, and 25th of August, 2009.  A total of 48 medals were won by NSIA students with 14 Golds, 19 Silvers and 15 Bronze, in addition, NSIA students also won the top prize for 6 individual culinary and front of house competitions.

“It was a wonderful achievement and we are always so impressed and delighted with the professionalism, passion and high standards that are displayed by our students, who for most have only 6 -7months hospitality experience, to be able to compete and deliver at such a high level under intense pressure with the industry professionals. The achievement is also indicative of the time and commitment given by all tutors and staff from the academy that encourage and support students that wish to achieve their dream, in all areas of hospitality.” said Otto Groen QSM the Head of Academy.

NSIA have done it again - winning the Training Excellence Award at the National Culinary Fare 2009. Our Academy took away this title for the fourth consecutive year from 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009; the only institution in New Zealand to achieve this memorable record.

Our students have done extremely well to get 14 golds in a wide range of categories including statics, hot kitchen, front of house and food & beverage. We are looking  forward to attending next years’ culinary fare, once again promote the quality of training here at NSIA.!” said Academy’s Director of Studies Melissa Dikstaal.
